A guardian is not a new concept. The first place you may have probably met the word guardian was probably at your school. A parent or guardian would have the same roles. One would substitute the other and it would be just okay. Their primary role is to care for the minor and represent their best interests. What about Angels? There are guardian Angels and we are the minors whom they care for. Angels are powerful spiritual beings capable of keeping us safe from both physical and spiritual harm.

Why do you need a Guardian Angel?

When a minor attains the legal age (which is 18 years in most countries), they are now adults and can take full responsibility for their decisions. The responsibilities of the guardian shift to the new adult in town and they are left to take care of themselves. While some successfully manage the transition, others have a difficult time quickly fitting into these adult roles. It is something they have not done for 18 years of their lives. You may wonder whether you indeed need a guardian Angel yet you are an adult capable of taking care of yourself. The roles of guardian Angels are irreplaceable. You will always need one even in adulthood. This is why you need a Guardian Angel:

1. To protect you from unseen dangers.

Guardian Angels can see danger before it happens. Remember that before an event occurs in the physical realm, it begins in the spiritual one. Angels would see it first hand and act to protect you from it before it hits you unexpectedly. The Bible explains how they perform their protection role.

“For He will give His Angels charge of you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands, they will bear you, lest you dash your foot against a stone.” Psalms 91:11-12 (RSV).

The protection duty of guardian Angels is to protect you from every danger, even against hitting your foot on a stone. This is the same scripture that the devil quoted when he was tempting Jesus, asking him to throw himself down from the building because His Guardian Angels would protect Him. But Jesus overcame the temptation.

2. To guide you.

Guardian Angels are like tour guides. They guide you in most things that you do not know about. They are like a manual that you use when you want to understand how to operate a new device. Guardian Angels have your best interest at heart. They have a genuine concern for you and would not allow you to get lost while they are watching. The guidance role of the guardian Angels comes to light during the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt.

“Behold, I send an Angel before you, to guard you on the way and to bring you to the place which I have prepared.”  Exodus 23:20 (RSV).

The Lord uses guardian Angels to take you where He has promised. As it was during the exodus that the Israelites finally reached the promised land as God had promised, so shall it be with you when you stick to your guardian Angel.

How can you know that your Guardian Angel is with you?

Guardian Angels communicate with us in many ways although you may not understand if you are not sensitive in the spirit. Mastering spiritual communication is how you can understand his communication. This is how you can know what he is saying:

1. You will hear a voice.

The Angel of the Lord may speak directly to you as a man does to another. In performing either of their primary roles (protection and guidance), guardian Angels may choose to speak to you clearly during day time. The Bible highlights this conversation that you may know when it is God speaking to you.

“And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.” Isaiah 30:21 (RSV).

When you hear this voice, the Angel of the Lord is certainly speaking to you.

2. Feelings and physical sensations.

You may feel a light touch on your hand or a feeling of warm air on your body. Your Guardian Angel is trying to let you know that he is around you. You could also feel as if someone is stroking your hair gently when nobody is physically doing that. Be informed that it could be your Guardian Angel comforting and reassuring you that things will be okay because he is there for you. He can manifest himself by heightening your sensitivity that you may feel his physical presence without actually seeing him with your eyes. You can tell that there is somebody else in the room. Your Guardian Angel is assuring you that you are not alone. He has not left you despite what you are going through.

3. You can see Him with your physical eyes!

Sometimes when you are facing difficult situations, your guardian Angel may reveal himself to you to reassure you that he is there to protect you from any danger. When the King of Syria sent his soldiers to surround the prophet Elisha and capture him because he has been ruining his plans of attacking Israel by disclosing the same to the King, prophet Elisha was unbothered. He knew that he had guardian Angels to protect them but Gehazi, his servant did not know that.

“Then Elisha prayed, and said, “O Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.” 2 Kings 6:17 (RSV).

When God opens your spiritual eyes to see what Gehazi saw, you can be sure that your Guardian Angels have not left your side.

What can you do to keep the company of your guardian angels?

You can retain your guardian Angel by being Holy. Sinning upsets your spiritual balance and the Angel may leave you. But before that happens, always repent when you go before the Lord in prayer. Although we sin and fall short of His glory, He always gives us a second chance to be reunited with Him.

Your Guardian Angel is the adult in your life from now until the time you are promoted to God’s glory. Continue breeding your relationship with Him and he shall always serve you.
